That statement professed in the bible has lead mankind to assume they are the most advanced sentient beings in the universe, the chosen ones. God in his infinite wisdom has created an infinite variety of life and when confronted with the truth. Most humans would be stunned, if given the privilege to a view a sample other intelligent life forms throughout the universe.
So what is the makeup of life forms capable of intelligent thought on other worlds like? Visitors involved in the transformation of Earth, have cataloged general percentages of life forms familiar to mankind. When you here that we are all one, as an introductory statement, their is a common thread. All entities have similar thought processes and experiences unique to their environment as mankind does on Earth. In our universe, domination of the weak, acquisition of resources is the goal of the self centered and those who care exploited. Although those born to water worlds would have limited abilities to manipulate their environment due to lack of or limited mechanize industry. The key is that which comprises the spirit or the energy force that manipulates the molecular makeup of the brain of any life form is composed of the same "stuff". So lets examine a small variety of different water worlds.
With the majority of water planets having deep oceans with a variable range of temperature, most are populated with some form of octopi, squid or unfamiliar form as the dominant species. Their tentacles allow the being to manipulate material and other debris for shelter and hunt on the sea bed. Squid are one of the more aggressive life forms as their beaks can maim and kill others of their kind for the entity's gain. Where the most of the seas on a particular water planet are warm, shallow and lush with plant life, the life forms gathers and cooperation with each other are lessons in times scarcity and regeneration. It is here the dominant species that develops are similar to our whales and dolphins. Where the bond in the pods are family. Where the care for all is the prime agenda and communication is augmented by a crude form of telepathy. Sometimes a choice must be made, where the death of a parent to conserve food for the calf. The lesson is, a decision has an affect on the survival of the family.
On the extremely shallow water planets near the cooler outer edge of the life zone, the rocky pools are the home of the dominant crustaceans. One of the most aggressive and violent species on water worlds throughout the universe as all are armored for protection, conservation of heat, mobile and have claws. As there is always a fight to take the few resources and scraps of life that exist in the crevasses. The it is from planets with a similar profile, that the more successful self centered life forms graduate to the next level during the harvesting of worlds in a transformation phase.
As for the life form that is depicted in the movie, The Abyss. This would not be allowed on even the most advanced of 3rd density water worlds. The reason is, this being can manipulate its environment by pure thought, a characteristic of a responsible entity on the next level govern by new rules when affecting others.
There are an infinite variety of life residing on water worlds that are part of the pool of intelligent beings, but you are being introduced to the familiar forms first to associate a link. Before being bridged to the more exotic beings that may cause undue anxiety. Thus closing down those who would like to explore more, but are not ready mentally for the visual concept. Thus a gentle bridging will occur building upon this base.
The other 25% of life forms are terrestrial planet dwellers. Characteristics for a successful rise of a reptilian life form as the dominant sentient being dictates close stellar orbit invoking an even planetary thermal environment or a double star system, but not what was viewed in Star Wars.

Mammals or humanoid type beings comprise only 10% of the population of dry planets. The other 30%, which will discomfort most humans, for they are insect and bird like derivatives.
